Press Conference

The Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) is the main funder of research activities in Luxembourg with the mission of supporting researchers, improving the research environment and promoting scientific culture.

“The wireless conference system offered by the LEMON company allowed us to organize the press conferences of the Luxembourg COVID-19 Research Taskforce while respecting the health and social distancing measures in the room, while ensuring a live broadcast via the internet. The wireless solution guaranteed us great flexibility and speed during implementation.”

-- Didier Goossens, Head of Corporate Communication, Fonds National Research

“These institutional press conferences were held every two weeks. It was therefore essential for us, from the start, to be able to rely on a system with a wireless microphone quality that was comparable to that of a hand-held microphone. We had to find a solution so that journalists could express themselves in complete freedom, in strict compliance with sanitary measures, since the question of disinfecting the microphones no longer arose. With the Shure MXCW, we were able to combine sound quality, discretion and aesthetics. ”

-- Paul Thyes, Managing Director, LEMON Event Support

Customer Profile

Scrutinized, over-solicited, scientists have been at the forefront of the pandemic, with an almost daily voice that cannot tolerate the slightest questioning and must be clear, intelligible and understandable by as many people as possible.

In such a sensitive context, the perceived audio quality is essential to deliver a message that is not only heard but also perceived as credible.

Hence the importance that the speaker's speech is not altered by sound distortions, noise or poor room acoustics.

Challenge

LEMON Event Support had no room for error when organizing press conferences for the Covid 19 Task Force, created to inform people about the progress of the pandemic.

The Shure MXCW wireless conference system has been used to ensure reliable signal transmission for Luxembourg media, TV and radio, along with flawless audio quality during live communications to the general public.

The challenge is to capture and transmit journalists' questions without handheld microphones, which were excluded for health reasons.

In addition, LEMON Event Support could be called at the last minute to provide sound for a press conference taking place in an hour. He, therefore, had to find a system that was flexible, quick to install and configure.

Shure's MXCW was the only solution capable of successfully addressing such challenges.

Solution

Freed from cabling constraints, the Shure Microflex® Complete Wireless system helps speed setup during temporary events. It also offers high reliability of HF transmission, even in the most congested wireless environments.

25 to 30 MXCW stations were deployed at a press conference, with 3-4 speakers from the Research Luxembourg COVID-19 Taskforce on stage, and 10 to 15 journalists present in the room.

Advantages

A complete system of 25 workstations up and running, started up and placed on the table in less than 10 minutes.

A sound signal is optimized to run simultaneously for Luxembourg TV / radio / media channels and the general public (live streaming).

A system that combines discretion and sound quality.

A solution that makes it possible to circumvent the constraints of social distancing.
