Founded in 1964, the Centre is the training institution of the  International Labour Organisation. It provides practical, need-based  training and education, and strengthens the capabilities of governments,  organisations and others in the areas of labour, social justice and  development.

The campus consists of five buildings, each of them representing a  continent. The new building “Europe” has been established to accommodate  conferences, seminars, workshops and media events organised by the  United Nations and other institutions. Its conference centre offers four  modular rooms with movable walls that can be modified into one single  plenary hall. The installation covers A/V, simultaneous translation and  videoconferencing, requiring a variety of different configurations.

The Shure Microflex Wireless system incorporating DECT technology was  the solution of choice for the “Europe” conference centre. It comprises  eight access points serving 56 desktop microphones, four handhelds and  four bodypacks resulting in a total of 64 microphone channels. For the  simultaneous translation system, the integrator opted for the DCS 6000  digital infrared system with four infrared radiators for the six  interpreter booths, each assignable on-demand to any room.

The DCS 6000 and Microflex Wireless systems are a perfect choice due  to their modularity, interoperability and high quality specifications.  With this new system installation the conference centre is able to meet  even the most demanding configurations, even if requested on short  notice.
