Shure Recognized on Crain’s Chicago Business’ ‘Eureka! Chicago’s Most Innovative Companies’ Top 10 List
Niles, IL, October 10, 2016—Shure has been recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business as one of the top ten most innovative companies in the Chicago area. Annually the publication’s ‘Eureka! Chicago’s Most Innovative Companies’ list leverages Ocean Tomo, a local merchant bank specializing in intellectual property, to evaluate the uniqueness of patents owned by Illinois companies, as well as other factors such as likelihood a company will invest money to maintain or defend it, or use it in a product. The evaluation produces an index score for each organization, which is averaged across all patents awarded to the company for the year. The full list includes 25 companies with game-changing ideas and high-quality patent portfolios, and is ranked by the quality and uniqueness of the innovation, rather than the patent total.
“This recognition is an honor and particularly meaningful this year, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our iconic SM58® microphone,” commented Christine Schyvinck, President and Chief Executive Officer at Shure. “For 91 years, our Associates have worked tirelessly to drive innovation and build our position as an audio electronics leader. This recognition is a testament to their hard work and steadfast commitment to manufacture products of unmatched quality, reliability, and durability.”
In keeping with the Company’s long heritage of bringing new products to market, last year Shure launched several new innovations, including the KSM8, the world’s first dual-diaphragm dynamic handheld microphone; KSE1500 Electrostatic Earphone System; the SHA900 Portable Listening Amplifier; and its new plug-and-play microphone line, MOTIV™, with its award-winning MV88 iOS Digital Stereo Condenser Microphone and ShurePlus MOTIV™ Mobile Recording App.
