Shure is pleased to introduce MOTIV Live, our new audio series that gets you closer to the music.

We've partnered with FluxFM, Germany's leading independent radio station, to bring you exclusive live performances by both well-known and up-and-coming artists.

For our first episode, we caught up with the band Current Swell at FluxBau, the station's cozy little riverside venue in the heart of Berlin. Influenced by folk and country music, the indie rockers from Canada's West Coast are currently touring Europe in support of their latest album, When to Talk and When to Listen. And now it's time to listen to three songs from the band's recent gig!

Songs: Too Cold (0:44), I Wanna Bird (4:22), and For the Land (8:20)

Current Swell Performing at FluxBau

About Current Swell

Originally coming together to play music in backyards and at the beach in 2005, Current Swell have since recorded six albums from their home in Victoria, British Columbia. Exuding a laid-back yet still upbeat vibe, while onstage, the band members still seem like a bunch of friends who love making music together. Be sure to check out Current Swell's website to see when they'll be playing a show near you.

About the Recording

This concert was recorded live using the MV88 iOS digital stereo condenser microphone and an iPhone SE with the ShurePlus™ MOTIV mobile recording app. We tightened the MV88's stereo angle a bit and used the Loud setting to ensure that crystal-clear Current Swell sound comes through. This automatically applied a touch of compression and limiter. We also pushed up the gain from the preset level since the band didn't overdo it with their onstage volume.

If you happen to be in Berlin on a Wednesday night and want to discover new music, swing by FluxBau! There's no cover. Plus, you're guaranteed great waterfront views of the city's Spree River. Even if you can't make it in person, you can download the FluxMusic app to listen to several different channels of great independent music.
