6.1.0

Important

  • To fully configure IntelliMix Room, download and install Shure Designer on a separate computer. Shure does not support installing Designer and IntelliMix Room on the same computer.
  • IntelliMix Room 6.1 is compatible with Designer 6.1 only.
  • When updating to IntelliMix Room 6.1 from previous versions, transmit audio routes from IntelliMix Room may fail to resolve. Please see this FAQ for more information.
  • Stereo AEC is only available in 8-channel configuration of IntelliMix Room. 16-channel license owners can activate their license in 8 channel configuration for Stereo AEC functionality.
  • System API Standalone may have different functionality from the System API version installed with IntelliMix Room. For full System API functionality, please download the latest version of System API Standalone here.
  • System API Standalone cannot be installed on the same machine as IntelliMix Room. If you have installed System API Standalone over IntelliMix Room, please contact Shure support for help with uninstallation.

Device Behavior Changes

  • License activation / deactivation must now be completed via Activate / Deactivate in the tray app, or via Room Setup. Designer no longer manages license activation.

Improvements

  • Now compatible with the Designer 6.1 environment
  • Added support for stereo acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) which can be enabled via the settings menu
  • Implemented secure remote passwords, port-based network authentication, and other security improvements
  • New Device Support (MXA902, MX901-R) in Room Setup

Known Issues

  • Packet scanning security software may cause audio performance issues with IntelliMix Room
  • Changing the System Name of the host computer after installation of IntelliMix Room also changes the Dante Device name in Dante Controller. The Shure device name stays the same. Changing the Dante Device name can impact audio routes to Dante receive devices.
  • Allowing a system running IntelliMix Room to enter a sleep state can cause issues with IntelliMix Room’s logic and mute synchronization functionality
    • Workaround: restart your computer
  • In some scenarios when using Dante Domain Manager with Shure devices, IntelliMix Room may appear as “Dante Locked” regardless of the device permissions set in Dante Domain Manager. In this state, IntelliMix Room networked audio settings cannot be customized.
    • Workaround: unenroll and reenroll IntelliMix Room within Dante Domain Manager

Notes

Improvements

  • System API now supports license management for IntelliMix Room

Known Issues

  • On large networks of 100+ devices, first queries of devices may return a “deadline exceeded” error. To work around, query the devices again.
  • Subscriptions to AudioChannelGainEvent will return duplicative responses for MXA901, MXA902, and MXA920 devices.
  • Subscriptions to FirmwareUpdateProgressEvent on MXA310 will skip TRANSFERRING_FILES and INSTALLING stages. Only PENDING and COMPLETE will be returned.
  • Subscriptions to UserPresetEvent will return duplicative responses upon a save event.

Platform Requirements

  • Supported Operating Systems
    • Windows 10, 11 or Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022
  • Hardware Requirements
    • Minimum:

Pre-Upgrade Requirements

  • Users must export release 4.X project files (with extension .dprj) for import to Designer and conversion to room design files (with extension .rdf)
  • Certain endpoint protection software may block the installation of Designer. If you encounter this issue, whitelist the Designer Installer, or application.

Upgrade Path from Designer Classic to Designer 6

  1. Users must update device firmware from release 4.X / 5.X using Shure Update Utility. Ensure that each device is at the correct firmware version as indicated in the Compatibility section below.
  2. Download Designer 6 from the Shure website, and then install the application
  3. Launch the Designer 6 software application
  4. Go to the Preferences tab
  5. Select the appropriate NIC to discover all the devices in ecosystem
  6. Go to the Online devices to validate device firmware
  7. Perform tasks as desired

Compatibility

  • This version of Designer is compatible with the following recommended software and firmware versions:
    • IntelliMix Room 6.1.0
    • ANIUSB 6.0.44
    • MXA310 6.0.23
    • MXA710 6.0.24

    • P300 6.0.38
  • It is imperative to use Shure Update Utility to update all devices to the specified firmware version indicated above.
  • IntelliMix Room is supported in this release.
  • Note the applicable firmware version for IMX-Room designs and deployments.

File Conversion

  • Project file conversion from Designer version 3.X is not supported in Designer 6.
  • Reference the following steps to convert project files to room design files:
    • To export projects from Designer 4.X:
      1. Open Designer 4.X
      2. Go to “my projects”
      3. Click on the 3 dots in right side of your project – select “Export”
      4. A <your_project_name>.dprj file has been created and saved to default download folder
    • To import into Designer 6:
      1. Open Designer 6
      2. Go to “File -> Open”
      3. Navigate to and select <your_project_name>.dprj
      4. Import file dialog appears – click “Choose save location”
      5. Select a folder where the converted room files should be stored e.g <my_rooms>
      6. Dialog appears that shows all rooms contained in the <your_project_name>.dprj file
      7. Select all the rooms that you want to import
      8. Click on “Open selected rooms”
      9. All rooms selected are now opened in their own tab
      10. All room files are stored in my_rooms>/<your_project_name>/<room_name>.rdf

Known Issues

  • Installer processes may fail during upgrade
    • Workaround: Allow the uninstaller process to finish, then restart installation
  • After a device firmware installation and a “device version to install” version stops at “Discovering...”
    • Workaround: Unplug the POE cable from the device, wait about 5 seconds, and then plug the POE cable back in to restore the device.
  • Issue ID# 5962: Automatic conflict resolution is not happening in empty online rooms. This issue occurs after clearing an offline room (room containing only offline devices). If an online device is added to the previously cleared empty room and a removed offline device comes back online, the room will enter the conflicted state and not resolve automatically.
    • Workaround: User must create a new room design after clearing the offline room, and/or delete the previously cleared offline room.

Improvements

  • Bug fixes and general improvements

Known Issues

  • The optional ARRAY_HEIGHT_OVERRIDE value sent via command strings must be resent upon power cycle
  • If the ARRAY_HEIGHT_OVERRIDE command is used to set a height that is outside the valid range (122-914 cm), the command will not display an error but internally, the value will be rejected from being set
  • Acoustic reflections from tables can sometimes be mistaken by the MXA920 as another source/talker location.  The symptom is a second talker location coordinate set in front of and higher than the actual talker.
    • Workaround: Place Coverage Areas to minimize pick-up of table surface reflections
  • Channel Names are not set in the initial attempt of ‘push-to-Dante’. Dante interface resets when Device Name is set.
    • Workaround: Channel Names are set on the 2nd attempt
  • MXA920 LED does not stay on after a reboot if the light settings are set to Unmute = Blue, Mute = Red. Other light combinations work as expected after reboot.
  • When a muted dynamic coverage area is moved when a dedicated coverage area has also been established, the mix output of the MXA920 has low-level audio from outside the dedicated coverage area limits.
    • Workaround: Unmute and Mute the dynamic coverage area after a dynamic coverage area is moved

  • Command Strings
