Our history is the history of audio. As a company of engineers, concert goers, performers and presenters – we make products with a passion fueled by a deep understanding and respect for the needs of the people we make them for.
Since 1925, Shure has been a technology leader whose products have set the industry standard and become synonymous with superior quality and reliability for generations of people.
1925 – 1949 – The Beginning
 1925 1925- Shure Radio Company- S.N. Shure founds the Shure Radio Company in Chicago, Illinois, marking the beginning of a legacy in audio innovation. 
 1932 1932- Model 44 Condenser- With the introduction of the Model 44 Condenser Recording Studio Microphone, Shure becomes one of the few U.S. microphone manufacturers. 
 1939 1939- The Unidyne® Model 55- The Unidyne® Model 55 Microphone debuts as the world’s first single-element unidirectional moving coil microphone. Its iconic design and superior performance soon make it the world's most recognized microphone. 
 1941 1941- Military Grade- As a leading supplier of microphones and headphones to the Allied Forces, Shure manufactures to meet the military-grade quality standards (MILSPEC) that continue to define our products today.

1950 – 1979 – The Growth
 1950 1950- Phonograph Cartridges- By 1950, Shure is one of the largest producers of phonograph cartridges in the U.S. Shure continues to produce phono cartridges until well into the 21st century, including the revolutionary V15 Type III Phonograph Cartridge released in 1973. 
 1953 1953- Vagabond 88- The Vagabond 88 is the first handheld wireless microphone system for performers. 
 1959 1959- Unidyne III Model 545- Shure introduces the Unidyne III Model 545 Microphone. Soon after, we use the Unidyne III cartridge for the SM57 in 1965 and SM58® in 1966. The SM58 remains the most popular vocal microphone in the world. 
 1967 1967- The Vocal Master- The Vocal Master, the first portable PA system for vocals, features a six-channel mixer, power amplifier,and loudspeakers, transforminglive sound reinforcement. 
 1973 1973- SM7 Voiceover Microphone- Shure launches the SM7 voiceover microphone. The SM7 series gains legendary status over the next four decades in radio, television, recording, and podcasting studios worldwide. Its success paves the way for the MV7 podcast microphone, a USB/XLR hybrid microphone, which debuts forty-seven years later. In 2023, we further expand the line with the SM7dB featuring an ultra-quiet built-in preamp.

1980 – 1999 – Automation and Wireless Innovation
 1983 1983- Automatic Microphone System- Shure enters the conferencing market with AMS, our first automatic mixing system for corporate meeting rooms. A year later, using a microprocessor and embedded code, Shure releases the AMS880 which controls a video switcher so that camera selection follows the talker. 
 1989 1989- The Beta® 58 and Beta® 57- The Beta® 58 and Beta® 57 Microphones, with supercardioid polar patterns and high output levels, provide unprecedented gain before feedback on concert stages. 
 1990 1990- L Series Wireless Systems- Shure introduces L Series Wireless Systems. Within a decade, Shure establishes itself as a global leader in wireless microphones. 
 1992 1992- ST2500 Desktop- Shure releases the ST2500 Desktop Teleconferencing Unit with DSP-based, full duplex audio. 
 1993 1993- The Microflex® line- Shure debuts the Microflex® line, introducing a modular approach to conferencing and presentation microphones tailored to individual needs. The initial lineup includes goosenecks, lavaliers, and boundary microphones, all sharing the same core architecture. Over time, the line evolves into the Microflex Ecosystem portfolio, designed to meet the changing demands of modern work environments. 
 1996 1996- The DFR11EQ- The DFR11EQ expands Shure's use of digital signal processing via a device that sets the standard for automatic feedback reduction while also allowing users to manually control internal software equalizers for comprehensive tonal control of the sound system. Today, nearly all new Shure products are powered by DSP, and Shure continues to invest in dedicated DSP devices such as the IntelliMix® P300 Audio Conferencing Processor. 
 1997 1997- The PSM®600- Shure introduces the PSM®600, the first in-ear monitoring system to deliver suitable dynamic range to the performer, dramatically reducing fatigue, providing an inspiring audio experience, and helping to preserve artists' hearing.

2000 – 2024 – The Wireless Evolution
 2005 2005- UHF-R® Wireless- UHF-R® Wireless brings to market a new standardin flexibility and reliability with its wide tuning bandwidth and unique track-tuning filter. UHF-R rapidly expands Shure's market share in the upper echelon of professional production. 
 2011 2011- Axient® Wireless System- Shure introduces the Axient® Wireless System, with an unprecedented set of tools for deploying wireless microphones in challenging RF environments. We continue to expand the Axient feature set in today’s Axient Digital Wireless Microphone System. 
 2012 2012- The ULX-D® Digital Wireless System- The ULX-D® Digital Wireless System, is our first TV-band digital wireless solution. The system offers 24-bit audio, wide dynamic range above 120 dB, and exceptional spectrum efficiency with its high-density mode, marking a new era in professional wireless technology. 
 2013 2013- Microflex Wireless (MXW) System- The Microflex Wireless (MXW) System, Shure's first wireless microphone tailored for conference rooms, debuts in 2013, offering flexible and reliable audio solutions for dynamic meeting environments. In 2024, the system evolves with the introduction of Microflex Wireless neXt 2, an advanced two-channel wireless solution designed to enhance meeting equity and sound reinforcement in videoconferencing and hybrid presentations. In 2025, we add updated four andeight channel system options to MXW neXt. 
 2016 2016- The MXA910- Providing remarkable audio capture from a distance, the MXA910 Ceiling Array Microphone changes conference rooms forever. 
 2018 2018- Microflex Complete Wireless (MXCW) System- Shure introduces the Microflex Complete Wireless (MXCW) System, a fully-featured discussion system that combines the freedom of wireless technology with integrated voting, interpretation, and touchscreen control. Ideal for government, corporate and educational facilities, MXCW speeds setup in dynamic meeting spaces and temporary venues with flexible seating arrangements. 
 2020 2020- IntelliMix Room- Shure revolutionizes the AV industry with the introduction of IntelliMix Room, the first-of-its-kind audio processing software. IntelliMix Room® optimizes audio conferencing with advanced DSP algorithms that run directly on Windows devices, simplifying room deployments by eliminating the need for dedicated DSP hardware. 
 2024 2024- Nexadyne™- Shure redefines the modern standard for live events and professional touring with the Nexadyne™ dynamic microphone platform. Built on Shure's patented Revonic™ Dual Transducer Technology, Nexadyne vocal and instrument microphones offer stunning detail and reduction of unwanted noise. 
 2024 2024- ShureCloud- Shure launches ShureCloud, a comprehensive cloud-based platform designed to streamlinethe management and monitoring of Shure devices. This platform offers centralized control, remote monitoring, and seamless firmware updates, enhancing efficiency and operational simplicity for AV professionals.

2025 – Innovations for the Next Century
 2025 2025- Axient® Digital PSM- Axient® Digital PSM is our first digital wireless in-ear monitoring system tailored to the rapidly evolving wireless landscape. It is also Shure's first Wireless Multichannel Audio System (WMAS) enabled product line, empowering audio professionals to adapt to an even wider variety of environments. 
 2025 2025- MV7i Builds on SM7’s Legacy- Further expanding the SM7’s legacy, the MV7i is the world's first microphone with a built-in, dual-channel USB audio interface all in one device. 
 2025 2025- IntelliMix Room Kits- IntelliMix Room Kits are our first complete Microsoft Teams Room solution. With built-in room audio signal processing, they include the IntelliMix Foundation System compute device with pre-installed IntelliMix Room DSP software, a control touch panel, Shure MXA902 Ceiling Microphone Array and Loudspeaker, cameras, and accessories. 
 2025 2025- Microflex Loudspeaker Portfolio- Shure releases a complete Microflex Loudspeaker Portfolio. Designed specifically for conference rooms, the ceiling, wall, and surface-mount loudspeakersoffer premium audio quality, straightforward installation, and seamless interoperability as part of the Microflex Ecosystem Portfolio.
