To get the most consistent sound, Shure recommends using Auto Level Mode, which will set your gain in real-time to adjust to your voice.

To enable Auto Level Mode, simply choose ‘Near’ if you prefer to have your MV7 1-6 inches away from your mouth, or choose ‘Far’ if you prefer to have the MV7 6-18 inches away. The microphone will apply a combination of gain, eq and compression to deliver a consistent sound regardless of where your mic is setup.

Auto Level Mode will also prevent unwanted changes in volume that come from video call platforms audio adjustments.

This can also be prevented by using the ‘lock’ feature – click the lock icon in the upper right corner of the MOTIV Desktop App or hold the ‘mute’ and ‘toggle’ buttons on the MV7 for 2 seconds.

WINDOWS 10 USERS!

Certain versions of Windows 10 (prior to v2004, released in April 2020) can cause a ‘sample rate mismatch’, resulting in audio through the MV7’s headphone output sounding higher pitched than normal.

  1. Press ‘Launch Sound Panel’ in the pop-up or open the ‘Sound’ menu in Windows control panel.
  2. On the ‘playback’ tab highlight Shure MV7 and click ‘properties’.
  1. Select the ‘Advanced’ tab.
  2. Select ‘2 channel, 24 bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality).
  3. Click ‘ Apply’.
  4. Repeat these steps on the ‘recording’ tab to ensure '1 channel, 24 bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality) is selected.

It is also advisable to select MV7 as your default communication device on both the playback and recording sides. This will instruct conferencing software select MV7 by default and not your computer’s built in microphone/speakers.

On both the ‘recording’ and ‘playback’ tabs, right click MV7 and select ‘Set as Default Communication Device’.
