Greater agility and intelligibility in communication between teams and in contacts with the customers of Axis Communications

An electronics company with a presence in no less than 179 countries, Sweden's Axis needed to remodel the auditorium and meeting rooms at its new headquarters in São Paulo. Agility in contacting customers, and among its technical teams, is essential to maintaining its leadership position. That is why, when planning the new spaces, the company opted for Shure's intelligent audio solutions, which is enabling a big productivity leap in the activities of its employees.

Specialized in security and monitoring systems, Axis is known for the high quality standard of its services, both for private companies and in the public sector. "We had an auditorium and several meeting rooms and needed an audio & video solution, but we didn't want anything analog," says Sergio Fukushima, New Business Development Manager at Axis Communications in Brazil.

After researching various options on the market, he became acquainted with the MXA series microphones from Shure, through the distributor WDC Networks, which also markets Axis products in Brazil.  "We soon saw that it was a more professional solution," says Fukushima.  "They are intelligent systems, with IP processing, which is also the protocol used by our cameras. It turned out to be a fantastic combination."

According to him, the integration between the Shure MXA910 ceiling-mounted microphones and the MXA310 table-top microphones, with digital signal processing from Shure's P300, pleased all Axis teams. "Our meetings used to have a lot of stuff on the tables. We wanted to have the tables free. Now, basically what people do is walk into the room, plug a cable into their PC, and start the meeting," says the Axis manager.

At the company's headquarters, on Avenida Paulista, an auditorium and five meeting rooms were set up, three with MXA910 ceiling microphones and two with MXA310s. The auditorium, with a capacity for 24 people, is often used for training Axis teams and partners, while the meeting rooms are used to host even customers for face-to-face meetings.

"It has become very easy to put the audio from meetings into Microsoft Teams, or any other platform," Fukushima explains. "The audio system integrates from a USB connection on the computer, and in the same hour the participants already have access to everything."

Another advantage of the Shure system, he says, is the ease of integrating Axis' own audio equipment, such as speakers and IP processors, so that the captured audio can be received perfectly on the other side of the line in virtual meetings. "Even with people speaking at the same time, there are no problems understanding the word. With Shure's processing, there is total intelligibility."

The Axis New Business Manager also points out that this solution, besides being robust, is scalable, which allows planning future upgrades: "Since it is all IP-based, all that is needed now is to plan the needs and provide more network points where it is desirable to expand the project. It is a future-proof system."  This concept is made possible by Shure support, whose service team stays in frequent contact with Axis personnel to understand potential new needs.

The Technology as a Service (TAAS) model adopted by WDC also contributed a lot to the success of the new facilities, as Anderson Moura, Development Manager at the distributor, says: "Axis had high performance expectations and received the best Shure equipment for that application, with monthly outlays that are not a strain on budgets. It is an intelligent IP solution that supports the Dante protocol and will surely be used by employees for many, many years to come."
