Shure MXA910 at the EBZ Electronic Education Centre

For almost half a century, the EBZ Elektro-Bildungs-Zentrum (Electronics Education Centre) in Illnau-Effretikon, Switzerland, has been supporting apprentices in the fields of electrical engineering and telematics with inter-company courses and other further education programmes. In 2020, the EBZ building was expanded with an annex to include various training rooms - then Corona arrived and provided new challenges.

Challenge

To be able to continue training classes despite contact restrictions and security regulations, the seminars had to be feasible both online and in hybrid form with face-to-face classes and online participation. Alongside the flexibility of the teaching forms, the audio quality of the transmitted voices was a focus from the very beginning: both the teachers and participants in the course room as well as the people connected online must be clearly and distinctly audible and assignable at all times.

Solution

As the responsible AV integrator, Vision-Inside AG relied on a proven combination of Crestron and Microsoft Teams to be able to manage each seminar room as an individual meeting participant in the system. Vision-Inside AG placed two Shure MXA910 Microflex® Advance ceiling microphone arrays per room, connected to the Shure IntelliMix P300 audio processors via the Dante network.

Advantages

The combination of virtual collaboration tools in teams and the MXA910 microphones ensures maximum audio quality, speech intelligibility and flexibility in any seminar room. This allows the lecturers to move freely around the room on site without compromising speech intelligibility for online participation. At the same time, the MXA910's visually discreet integration makes teaching courses distraction-free and allows media feeds to be shared quickly and easily across the network.
