The Royal Society selects Shure Microflex® Advance™ MXA910 and Microflex® Complete Wireless for London HQ

A system that provided audio capture was required for the Council room, particularly when remote participants join by VC or phone, along with a roving system that was necessary to fulfil external client’s needs of push-to-talk microphones. The ability to record boardroom style meetings was also a requirement, along with a system that provided high quality audio for use in video conferencing applications.

Customer Profile

Based at Carlton House, London, The Royal Society is the oldest scientific academy in continuous existence and home to over 1,600 of the world’s most eminent scientists, regularly coming together to recognise and promote excellence in the field of science, along with demonstrating the importance of science to everyone and supporting international collaboration.

With regular meetings held between Council members, important committee discussions and the hiring of space within the building for external clients, audio quality is paramount across the Society, which needed a system that was easy to use, offered flexibility for different applications and provided crystal clear audio.

An ambitious project, three rooms were chosen for an upgrade; the Council room, a conference/boardroom and the Welcome Trust Lecture Hall, the main 300-seat lecture theatre.

A system that provided audio capture was required for the Council room, particularly when remote participants join by VC or phone, along with a roving system that was necessary to fulfil external client’s needs of push-to-talk microphones.

Challenge

The ability to record boardroom style meetings was also a requirement, along with a system that provided high quality audio for use in video conferencing applications.

Voice reinforcement was required in the lecture theatre for coffee-table styled discussions and presentations, along with an alternative to attaching lavalier microphones to participants to help the flow of panel sessions.

Solution

Working with a company that reflected its own reputation and global recognition for excellence, The Royal Society selected Shure Microflex® Advance™ MXA910 (MXA) and Microflex® Complete Wireless (MXCW) for the installation across the various environments within the building.

Both MXA and MXCW systems now fully deployed and operational, helped by the support and advice of the team at Shure before, during and after the installation has made a big impression on the Royal Society’s AV department.

Advantages

“We demo'd the MXA in situ before installing in the Conference room and Shure's advice and support has always been exceptional,” said, Liam Helm, AV Services Manager, The Royal Society.

“What the MXA and MXCW systems bring to the table is incredibly useful to me and my team and we look forward to using them again when we resume back to normal operations.”
