Upgraded AV System for Assogestioni with Microflex Advance and Microflex Wireless

Assogestioni is the representative association of the Italian investment management industry. The association represents the majority of the Italian and foreign investment management companies operating in Italy, along with banks and insurance companies involved in investment management and pension schemes.

The associations' members serve more than 10 million clients and manage assets of more than 1,600 billion euros, representing more than 60% of the country's GDP.

With prestigious clients such as banks, insurance and finance stakeholders, Assogestioni required meeting rooms that not only impressed guests but were a flexible and efficient solution for conducting remote meetings, with an emphasis on quality AV.

The project would consist of integrating systems across two locations. A boardroom and a webinar room in a new, elegant space within the association’s Milan office. The second location would be within an ancient building in Rome, where integrating a system on the walls and ceilings was not an option. 

Challenge

An existing Microsoft Surface Hub within the Rome boardroom provided an all-in-one solution; however, this did not meet the needs and requirements of Assogestioni.

The Milan boardroom consisted of a projector and a Cisco audio system with wired microphones. The webinar room was a simple face-to-face meeting room without any AV technologies. 

The overall aim for both locations is for high-quality audio conversations with clients and partners, both on-site and remotely. 

Assogestioni’s brief was for an audio system with an elegant, low-profile design, flexible approach and ease of management for the internal tech teams across both Milan and Rome meeting environments. 

Microsoft Teams certification was also a requirement to assist with empowering the Surface Hub from the audio chain during Phase One, with further enhancement of the video during the design and maintaining Teams as the association’s soft codec. 

Flexible room microphone coverage was needed to assist with the most important meetings post-pandemic within the Milan boardroom, along with a flexible system within the webinar room that allowed for standing or seated presentations and precise voice pickup for larger meetings with extra delegates. 

Integration within the Rome boardroom would provide the biggest audio challenge as tables and parquet within the space could not be altered during the installation.

Solution

The Milan boardroom now features two Microflex® Advance™ MXA910 Ceiling Array Microphones integrated into an elegant acoustic panel and LED composition.

The webinar room features a lavalier microphone for standing presentations and a boundary microphone for seated presentations. 

The display is integrated into a custom-made TV stack which allows movement of the display (a Surface Hub) in two positions and aids storage of the microphone charger and audio gear when not in use. 

The Rome boardroom features two MXW6 which allows for microphone coverage of the whole table within the space without the unnecessary clutter of cables and navigates around the issue of integration within the existing parquet and table.

An IntelliMix P300 Audio Conferencing Processor links the Surface Hub of the room with the new audio system, with Teams certification being a key point of the system.
