Shure Beta 181 honoured with TEC Award
Ultra-compact condenser microphone wins industry-wide recognition

Eppingen/Germany, February 2, 2012 - - The Technical Excellence & Creativity (TEC) Awards are one of the most recognized accolades in the professional audio industry. This year the Shure Beta 181 multipurpose microphone was awarded the 27th TEC Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement in Microphone Technology/Sound Reinforcement. The ceremony took place during the 2012 NAMM show in Anaheim, California on January 20.

Chad Wiggins, Category Director for Wired Products at Shure Incorporated, says: “With the Beta 181, Shure set out to produce a microphone that sounds great and offers broad applications versatility in regards to both placement and polar patterns. On behalf of the product design team, and all of Shure, we are honoured to receive the 2011 TEC Award and would like to thank the TEC Foundation and the voters for validating our efforts.”

The Beta 181 is an ultra-compact, side-address condenser microphone with a unique “lollipop” design and interchangeable capsules which is suited for a huge variety of acoustic and amplified instruments.

The TEC Awards are presented annually by the TEC Foundation for Excellence in Audio during Winter NAMM. A panel of more than 200 professionals selects nominees with winners determined by subscribers of leading pro audio publications voting online.
