I am looking for the correct mikes to use on a small stage. The performers never use hand mikes and I need to amplify the sound for stage productions, both musicals and straight theatre. I direct the theatre in a university in Rome, Italy. The stage is proscenium with a one third thrust. The sound behind the proscenium is very bad without mikes and the problem of one third of the stage outside the proscenium makes it difficult to use directional mikes. It has been recommended that I use floor mikes, but they're ugly. The house is a large room with very high ceilings and the acoustics are not good at all. Body mikes are too expensive as the number of performers varies with each production. What would you suggest?
