Instead of opening the grille of my beta 58s to clean the windscreen, i put on after-market windscreens with different colors to keep the mics cleaner and for better identification (by their colors) when i am at the sound board. How does a wind screen sleeve affect the performance of the mics? Pros and Cons?
Assuming the foam windscreens are made of the proper open-cell foam (like all Shure brand windscreens), the effect on the audio is very slight: typically a slight roll-off of the frequencies above 10,000 Hz. Other than that, a foam windscreen has no detrimental effect.
