Holiday Celebration Sings Out With Shure Wireless CYPRESS, TX, November 6, 2008 — The number one selling artists on Billboard's Christian/Gospel charts at the end of last year as well as winners of GRAMMY®, Dove, and American Music Awards, the band Casting Crowns has secured a fan base spanning continents. Slated to return from Europe later this month just in time for the launch of the holiday season in the U.S., the contemporary Christian rockers will begin their Christmas Celebration Tour in Southeast Texas at the Berry Center on November 28. Coinciding with the release of the Crowns' Christmas album Peace on Earth, the 14-city Christmas Celebration will travel with a 20-piece orchestra throughout the latter half of November and first half of December. Guest artists on the bill will include Natalie Grant, Denver & the Mile High Orchestra, Avalon, Michael English, and pureNRG. Shure microphone products will occupy a prime place in the show as well, having been chosen by Casting Crowns FOH engineer Carter Hassebroek to fulfill wide duties onstage ranging from capturing soaring vocals to the pure tones of electric guitar cabinets. With UHF-R® wireless systems getting the call for vocals, lead singer Mark Hall relies on a handheld transmitter sporting a Beta 87C capsule, while keyboardist/backing vocalist Megan Garrett and violinist/backing vocalist Melodee DeVevo are outfitted with KSM9 capsules. "I am a believer in proper mic choice and placement," Hassebroek said shortly before leaving with the band for Europe at the end of last month. "When touring, I'm not satisfied with a 'go-to' mic or capsule. We spend a good deal of time in rehearsals finding the appropriate mics for new instruments or voices. After which, we are very particular about making sure the placement stays the same every day." Hassebroek has found Shure UHF-R's onboard frequency scanning capabilities a boon while out on the road as well as its high power output option. "They're a big help when coordinating a bunch of frequencies everyday," he adds. "Honestly, we don't face many wireless issues now that we are using UHF-R." Described by its creators as an "event album," Peace on Earth is the perfect companion for a national tour the likes of Christmas Celebration. The record includes classics like "Silent Night," "Joy to the World," "O Come All Ye faithful," and "Away in a Manger." Lead singer Mark Hall notes on the Casting Crowns website that part of the intention of making the album was to enable people to rediscover the message Christmas songs contain. "A lot of times when we sing carols, we sort of shift into Christmas carol mode," he believes. "We sing these songs we've been singing for so long that we might not be hearing what they're really saying." Those who agree with Hunt and want to rediscover the timeless message of these Christmas classics can catch the show anywhere from Cypress, Texas to Reading, Pennsylvania on December 13, at The Sovereign Center, where the tour will come to a close.
