Nota
The musical feats of a group such as Nota are not something one sees every day. To say then that what these six young men do with their voices is music to anyone’s ears, is not an exaggeration.
That is why, when these Puerto Rican singers appeared in the first season of The Sing-Off (a reality TV program produced by an important American network and by Sony Pictures Television), they dazzled the judges, captivated millions of television viewers and won the grand prize during the show’s finale on December 21, 2009: to be signed by Sony Music.
In spite of the intense competition presented by acts devoted for years to singing a cappella – with their voices as their only instruments – the members of Nota hit the right note… the winning note.
“When we got to the show, in the a cappella community, surveys were made to see who was going to win, and I remember that the groups that were chosen people knew them, but not ours,” says one of Nota’s members, José Ángel Rodríguez. “We went because we wanted the opportunity.”
