NSCA Education Foundation reaches Shure/Atlas Sound Industry Education Challenge Goal
May 4, 2007, Cedar Rapids, IA – The NSCA Education Foundation is pleased to announce that the commercial electronic systems industry has raised $150,000 in support of industry education. More than 200 industry individuals and companies exceeded the challenge presented by Shure, Inc. and Atlas Sound to contribute $100,000 necessary for the Foundation to receive the full effect of the matching funds campaign. With the Industry Education Challenge goal met, Shure and Atlas Sound will honor their joint challenge by matching the full $25,000 each.
"We're very happy with the overwhelming success of this year's matching campaign ... meeting the goal three months ahead of schedule," said Al Hershner, vice president and general manager for Shure U.S. "Thanks, also, to our friends at Atlas Sound, who matched our own 'matching' program, and to everyone who contributed this year in support of the NSCA Education Fund. The fund has been able to expand its programs and activities significantly because of this generosity."
Atlas Sound Chairman and CEO, Loyd Ivey, was elated to hear that the Foundation had increased awareness and participation of the industry. “As founding members of NSCA, Atlas Sound and Shure partnered for a challenge that incited the commercial electronics system industry to come together and pour a solid footing for the future growth of the Education Foundation,” Ivey said. “As always, from little acorns, great oak trees grow.”
Tom Frericks, president of the NSCA Education Foundation, appreciated the overwhelming support the industry had shown for the Foundation’s education initiatives. “We are honored to have so many people bettering the future of the commercial electronic systems industry,” Frericks said.
Gifts made to the Industry Education Challenge will be put toward the Foundation’s 2007-2008 budget to reach out to students, fund student scholarships and memberships, develop curriculum and fund education for industry professionals. The deadline for student scholarship applications is June 15, 2007.
