Shure's Fantastic Scholastic 3 Is In Session
Random Selection Reveals 10 Teams Enrolled To Record With Shure Mics
NILES, IL, November 1, 2006 – Shure Incorporated announced today that it has randomly chosen the ten collegiate finalists for this year’s Fantastic Scholastic Recording Competition. Recording in the studio this year, will be student teams representing American University, Appalachian State University, William Paterson University, University of Michigan, Indiana University, Berklee College of Music, Ohio University, University of Massachusetts, Lebanon Valley College, and Shenandoah University.
“We received a lot of interest in this year’s contest almost immediately after last year’s winning school was announced,” said Dave Mendez, Market Development Specialist, who coordinated the competition. “Shure is happy to be able to continue this contest and support the people who teach and study recording. We’re overwhelmed by the level of enthusiasm we see with all of the schools entering the contest each year, and we hope to continue that interest in the years to come. I would like to wish all of the schools the best of luck with their projects.”
Each of the 10 student teams will work on a recording project that consists of tracking and mixing a performance, exclusively using a “microphone locker” provided by Shure for the competition. Teams will be required to submit a stereo mix and studio journal for review by a panel of industry professionals who were selected by Shure to judge the competition.
The winning school will take ownership of the entire Shure Microphone Locker, which consists of: (1) Beta 52Aâ, (1) Beta 91, (3) Beta 98D/Ss, (2) KSM27s, (2) KSM32s, (2) KSM44s, (2) KSM141s, (4) SM57s, (1) SM7B, (1) VP88, and (1) A27M. The entire microphone package is valued at more than $10,000. In addition, a donation of $3000 towards a scholarship fund will be awarded to the winning school, and each member of the winning team will receive a KSM27, valued at $575.
