Third Annual Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition Accepts Entries
Event Allows Young, Unsigned Jazz Vocalists to Compete For International Jury and Audience
Shure Incorporated and the Montreux Jazz Festival today announced a call for entries to their 3rd Annual Voice Competition, which was created to recognize the best, unsigned jazz vocal talent from around the world. This year's competition will take place during the 39th Montreux Jazz Festival, which happens July 1-16, 2005.
"The Voice Competition is one way Shure directly supports aspiring professional musicians," says Ron Marchant, Marketing Director of Shure Europe. "We look forward to this year's event and continuing to build off of the excitement and enthusiasm it has generated in the first two years."
Entries will be accepted until April 15, 2005, from eligible vocalists who must be born after January 1, 1975. For consideration, entrants are required to submit a demo CD.
Semi-finalists selected from among qualified entries will be invited to compete at the festival for various prizes offered by Shure and the Montreux Jazz Festival. A jury of music educators and professional jazz artists will judge the event.
In addition to sponsoring the Montreux Jazz Voice Competition, Shure enters its 11th year as the Official Supplier of Microphones and Wireless Systems to the festival.
