Reverend Horton Heat Headlines Shure's Third Annual Musical Roots Concert
Annual Benefit Concert Raises Money for Hearing Conservation Charities
Reverend Horton Heat will headline the Third Annual Shure Musical Roots Concert, a benefit for hearing conservation charities, at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California.
This event marks the culmination of the annual Shure Musical Roots contest, which received nearly 500 entries from artists across the United States who submitted songs revealing their musical influences. This year's winner, Cliff Darby of Pensacola, Florida, receives a trip to Anaheim to attend the benefit and perform his winning song, "The Paperboy." Darby will also receive $5,000 in Shure gear.
"We would like to thank everyone who participated in this year's Musical Roots contest," said Al Hershner, Vice President and General Manager of Shure's U.S. Business Unit. "Whether you're a musician or a music fan, good hearing is vital for the continued creation and enjoyment of your sound."
Entrants were asked to name their favorite Shure dealer and salesperson, who was also eligible for a prize. Darby named Dana Daniel from All Pro Sound in Pensacola, Florida, who will receive a free trip to Anaheim for the concert.
The West LA Music Store in Los Angeles, California received the most entries in this year's competition. In recognition of this, all employees from the store will receive a pair of Shure's E2 earphones.
The concert is scheduled for Friday, January 16, from 7 p.m. to midnight at the House of Blues Anaheim. Tickets are $25 and include a buffet dinner and drinks.
All proceeds will be donated to hearing conservation charities as part of Shure's Bid For Hearing program, which helps educate the public about the dangers of noise-induced hearing loss while raising money for non-profit organizations to fund their activities.
