Shure Bid For Hearing Recognizes International Noise Awareness Day

Video News Release Offers Consumers Tips on Awareness, How to Protect Their Hearing

Shure Incorporated is distributing a video news release in recognition of International Noise Awareness Day to raise consumer awareness about the dangers of noise-induced hearing loss as part of the Company's Shure Bid for Hearing program.

"As a leader in the audio industry, we have an extensive history of working with professional musicians," said Sandy LaMantia, Shure's President and CEO. "We want the general public to understand how important it is to protect their ears because, unfortunately, many people are unaware of the sources in their everyday lives that can lead to hearing loss."

"Nearly 30 million Americans suffer from some degree of hearing loss and at least that many, if not more, are exposed to dangerous levels of noise on a regular basis," added LaMantia. "We created the Shure Bid For Hearing program to inform people about how to enjoy sound responsibly."

The Shure Bid for Hearing program is dedicated to educating musicians, audio professionals, and consumers on how to enjoy sound in a safe way. The program also raises money for hearing conservation charities to underwrite the cost of providing free hearing screenings, creating educational publications and films, and funding hearing research studies.

"Awareness is one of the biggest problems with hearing loss because it's invisible and almost always painless," said Michael Santucci, a licensed audiologist and President of Sensaphonics. "Whether you feel like your hearing is fine, or if you suspect you may have a problem, the only way to know for sure is to have your hearing tested by an audiologist."
