Shure Sponsors NEMO Music Conference & Festival

Provides Free Hearing Screenings with MusiCares, World Council on Hearing Health

Earlier this month, Shure Incorporated co-sponsored free hearing screenings at the NEMO Music Conference and Festival in Boston. Shure worked in cooperation with the MusiCares Foundation and the World Council on Hearing Health to test nearly 150 of the event's attendees.

"We were really pleased with the number of NEMO attendees who showed up to have their hearing tested," said Al Hershner, Vice President and General Manager of Shure's U.S. Business Unit. "The response showed us that more people are beginning to realize that hearing loss is an important issue for musicians, who need to protect themselves so they can continue performing, and music fans, who need to protect themselves in order to continue enjoying their favorite music."

In 2002, Shure adopted hearing conservation as the Company's corporate cause and created a program dedicated to educating musicians, audio professionals, and consumers on how to enjoy sound responsibly. The program also raises money for hearing conservation charities to underwrite the cost of providing free hearing screenings, creating educational publications and films, and funding hearing research studies.

In addition to providing the free hearing screenings, Shure also provided more than $3,000 worth of microphones and earphone products for use by panelists and musicians at the event.
