Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition Calls For Entries
Competition offers young, unsigned jazz vocalists the chance to compete in front of international jury and audience
After its successful premiere in 2003, Shure announced it will continue sponsorship of the Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition through the Festival's 40th anniversary in 2006. The Montreux Jazz Festival and Shure created the competition to support and acknowledge unsigned jazz vocal talent around the world.
"Shure has always made great effort to support developing artists no matter the genre" said Ron Marchant, Marketing Director of Shure Europe. "This competition offers a platform for gifted, young jazz singers to display their talent and gain visibility and recognition in the international jazz community."
The 2nd Annual Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition will be held at the Petit Palais during this year's festival which runs from July 2-17. The competition is open to vocalists of all nationalities, born after January 1, 1974. Entrants must submit a demo CD by April 16, 2004 to qualify. Semi-finalists selected from among the entries will be invited to compete at the festival for various prizes offered by Shure and the Montreux Jazz Festival . Details can be found at www.montreuxjazz.com.
In addition to sponsoring the Montreux Jazz Voice Competition, Shure has recently committed to continue as Official Supplier of Microphones and Wireless Systems, providing a wide range of equipment to support both artists and press events during the festival.
