Shure takes the stage at IBMA

Endorsing Artists, KSM, and PSM Take Center Stage At 15th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards

With artists ranging from Ricky Skaggs to Alison Krauss, the 2004 International Bluegrass Music Awards (IBMA) were a showcase for Shure in terms of both endorsing artists and products.

Shure's presence at the IBMA included:

  • Ricky Skaggs and his group Kentucky Thunder took home the award for Instrumental Group of the Year. Skaggs also performed at the event, using an SM86 for vocals, a KSM44 for his mandolin and monitored his performance with a PSM 600.
  • Shure endorsers Alison Krauss & Union Station took to the stage using the SM86 for vocals, KSM137's on fiddle, banjo, and guitar, and PSM 600 for monitors. They performed two songs, "Restless" and "This Sad Song," from their forthcoming album.
  • A new Shure endorser, Rhonda Vincent, took home awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year for her song co-written with Terry Herd, "Kentucky Borderline." Vincent and her group, The Rage, used KSM44's on vocals and instruments and monitored the evening's performance through the PSM 700. Krauss and her bandmate Dan Tyminski also co-hosted the event.
  • Adding to Shure's technological presence, a pair of KSM141's took a prominent position as the microphone of choice to mic the podium during all award presentations. Also, the PA821 antenna combiner was a nice complement the PSMâ 600 and 700 systems that were used for the evening's performances.
  • Performances throughout the evening were heard through the artist's choice of the KSM44 or SM86 for vocals, and the KSM137 or Beta 57A for instrument miking.

"This was a wonderful display of talent by some of the world's most prominent artists in the genre," Shure artist relations team member Ryan Smith said at the conclusion of the evening's events. "With over 2,300 people in attendance, Shure was delighted to be a part of such a spectacular showcase."
