Shure Romps at Country Music's Biggest Party
Artist endorsers headline at 2004 CMA Music Festival/Fan Fair
Performances by Shure artist endorsers Vince Gill, Sara Evans, and Keith Urban stood out among those made by more than 200 artists during last month's CMA Music Festival/Fan Fair, considered "The World's Largest Country Music Festival," which happened June 10-13 in Nashville.
"It was, without a doubt, a party of epic proportions that literally took over all of downtown Nashville," said Ryan Smith, Regional Manager, Artist Relations Nashville, for Shure. "As in years past, the CMA added a number of new elements, all while paying respect to the traditions that have made the gathering a hit with both fans and artists alike since 1972. For Shure, being a part of it all again was like coming home to visit our best friends--all 150,000 of them."
The country stars participating in the festival donate their time, and the CMA gives half of the net proceeds to charities designated by the participating artists. This year, Shure contributed a number of UHF wireless systems to the cause, as well as PSM personal monitors and a host of hardwired microphones.
Performing on the opening night at Nashville's Coliseum, Vince Gill relied upon a Shure Beta 87C for vocals and a large-diaphragm KSM32 for his guitar cabinet, while his band was outfitted with Beta 87As for backing vocals, an SM57/SM7A combo at Leslie cabinet, and a drum kit featuring a KSM137, SM57s, SM98As, a Beta 52A-KSM 32 combination at kick, and a VP88 for overhead.
Sara Evans also took to the Coliseum's stage on opening night using a UT Beta 87C. Helping to close the four-day bash on Sunday, June 13th, Keith Urban whipped crowds at The Coliseum into a frenzy with the aid of U14D guitar wireless, KSM27s on his guitar cabinets, and a Beta 87C for vocals.
Cited as the "crown jewel" among country music events by USA Today, the CMA Fan Fair also hosted daily shows at Riverfront Park featuring rising acts, legends of bluegrass, alt.country, and more. A favorite of fans, autograph booths jammed the Nashville Convention Center, creating one of the largest meet 'n' greet environments ever assembled in entertainment history.
