Shure Music Phone Adapter Wins 2007 Pack Expo Selects
Fold-Over Blister Maintains Tamper-Resistance, Reduces Packaging Parts
Arlington, VA, October 30, 2007 – All votes are tallied, and the package for the Shure Music Phone Adapter, submitted by Combined Technologies Inc., has won the 2007 PACK EXPO Selects competition. This year marks the second time PMMI has conducted the competition, in which PACK EXPO attendees choose the most innovative packages of the year from a field of entries developed, produced or executed by PACK EXPO exhibitors.
Packaging professionals cast their votes during PACK EXPO Las Vegas (October 15–17, 2007; Las Vegas Convention Center). With 23,960 attendees and 1,281 exhibiting companies, the show broke all previous records and was the largest packaging trade show of 2007. PMMI sponsors and produces the PACK EXPO events.
A panel of packaging professionals reviewed all PACK EXPO Selects submissions before the show, and chose 12 finalists, which were displayed on site at The Showcase of Packaging Innovations® exhibit sponsored by The Dow Chemical Co. Each finalist was developed, produced or executed by at least one PACK EXPO Las Vegas exhibitor.
“Innovation is the key to the future of the packaging industry, and it’s particularly important for consumer products, which face so much competition on the shelf. Packaging must constantly take advantage of the latest materials and manufacturing techniques. PMMI hopes the best-in-class consumer packages of the PACK EXPO Selects competition inspire packaging professionals to reach new levels of excellence,” says Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO, PMMI.
“Congratulations to all the PACK EXPO Selects finalists, but especially to the companies that contributed to the Shure Music Phone Adapter entry,” he says.
The winning package for the Shure Music Phone Adapter (submitted by Combined Technologies Inc.) is a fold-over blister. The Blisterguard material it uses keeps the product tamper resistant, allows the customer to see the product and maintains the integrity of graphics and branding. The design reduced the number of parts necessary for packaging and proved to be a substantial cost-cutter.
