iLounge Names Shure’s E500PTH the Best Earphones of the Year
NILES, IL – November 2, 2006 – Shure Incorporated today announced that its flagship personal audio accessory, the E500PTH Sound Isolating™ Earphone model, was named “Best Earphones of the Year” by iLounge, the world's leading independent authority on iPods and iTunes. The E500PTH earphones were first honored by iLounge with the “Best in Show” award upon their introduction at Macworld in January 2006, and are now being recognized in the “Best Accessories of the Year” section of the 2007 iPod Buyers' Guide. This year’s 3rd annual Buyers’ Guide features reviews of more than 1100 products from 300 iPod accessory vendors.
“Though we typically award our annual top earphone award to a product that anyone can afford, Shure's E500PTH is so stellar that it's worth saving for - the sort of exceedingly rare earpiece that impresses everyone who hears it,” said Jeremy Horwitz, editor-in-chief of iLounge.com. “Between its perfectly balanced sound signature and shockingly comfortable enclosure, which unlike other triple-driver earphones will snugly fit virtually any pair of ears, there's nothing significant to improve upon here, save to see more people enjoying it. After testing many different deluxe in-canal earphones, this is the one that we feel most earns its premium.”
Shure’s E500PTH Sound Isolating Earphones leverage personal monitor technology previously available only to professional musicians for unparalleled acoustic accuracy. The E500PTH utilizes three miniature speakers – one tweeter and two woofers – that allow the listener to experience precise highs and the richest lows that are true to live sound. Delivered in a tiny, in-ear package with an elegant black chrome shell, these earphones mesh beautiful design with accurate audio reproduction. The E500PTH also features the innovative Push-to-Hear (PTH) control, which allows listeners to alternate between complete immersion in their music or audio activity and a connection with outside ambient sounds.
“At Shure, we’re committed to designing products that meet the needs of both professional musicians and discerning listeners,” said Mark Karnes, general manager of Shure’s Personal Audio Business Unit. “We believe that the E500PTH’s combination of premium sound quality and beautiful design truly set the earphones apart from the rest of the pack, and we’re thrilled that the accessories experts at iLounge have chosen to honor us once again by naming the E500s the ‘Best Earphones of the Year.’”
Pricing and Availability
Priced at $499.00 USD, the E500PTH carries a two-year limited warranty. Shure’s PTH accessory is also sold separately for $59.00 and is compatible with Shure’s E500 or any other standard earphone.
Both products are available for purchase on the Shure Web site, www.shure.com, as well as through select retail partners.
