Shure Breaks into Gaming Market with New E Series Sound Isolating Earphones: Gaming Edition

Studio Quality Sound and Ultimate Portability Combine to Create Audio Rocket Fuel for Gamers' PSPs and Other Portable Gaming Devices

Shure Incorporated today unveiled the E Series Sound Isolating Earphones: Gaming Edition, the latest addition to the company's highly-acclaimed line of premium consumer audio accessories. The earphones reveal the true audio elements of any game, equipping players with audio rocket fuel for their portable gaming experience. By blocking outside noise with Shure's sound isolating technology, gamers can now experience the same high-performance audio that was once only available to professional rock stars.

Utilizing the same award-winning technology found in Shure's existing E Series line for consumers, the E Series: Gaming Edition earphones are styled to complement portable gaming devices such as the Sony PSP. With three distinct models providing rich sound quality and increasingly detailed audio as you move up the line, the E2g, E3g, and E4g accommodate a wide range of audio needs and preferences suitable for game-play, watching movies, and listening to music. Shure's Gaming Edition earphones feature a sleek industrial design, studio-quality components, and comfortable sound isolating sleeves that contour to the inner-ear, naturally sealing out background noise and enabling users to invoke a feeling of being "in the game."

"While the gaming industry has progressed rapidly in the creation of exceptional soundtracks, much of the experience is lost on consumers who lack high quality accessories to hear the phenomenal audio detail," said Steve Doering, portfolio director for Shure's Personal Audio Business Unit. "Looking at our success attaching to the iPod, equipping gamers with the right audio accessories seemed like a natural evolution for us. There's no other company better suited to answer gamers' calls for impeccable sound performance and detail."

A recent report by JupiterResearch states that accessories for the portable gaming market represent an "important source of high-margin revenue." The research firm projects that in 2005, for every $100 spent on gaming hardware, $75 will be spent on accessories (JupiterResearch, "US Game Accessories Forecast, 2005 to 2010," July 8, 2005).

Shure's Gaming Edition line delivers the same high performance sound quality and design found in the original E Series earphones and also features:

  • Personal Fit Kit: Gaming Edition earphones include a pair of disposable foam sleeves and triple-flange sleeves, three sizes of flex sleeves, and three sizes of ultra-soft flex sleeves to ensure a personalized, comfortable fit, and maximum sound isolation.
  • Unique Look and Feel: The Gaming Edition earphones sport sleek, black coloring accented with chrome highlights that is specifically designed to complement devices such as the PSP. In addition, the earphones feature a shortened cable to accommodate on-the-go gamers.
  • Compatibility: The Gaming Edition earphones are compatible with a host of today's popular gaming devices, including the Sony PSP, Nintendo DS, GameBoy, and Gizmondo. The earphones utilize a 3.5mm (1/8") gold-plated stereo plug that is also compatible with other portable devices such as MP3 players, laptops, and DVD players.

The E4gs also feature Tuned Port technology-creating ultra-wide frequency audio and extended bass for incredible reproduction of gaming soundtracks.

The E Series: Gaming Edition Earphones come with a two-year warranty and will be available for purchase on the Shure Web site as well as through select retail partners such as InMotion and Amazon.com starting in mid-October.
